Final Report: Water Consciousness
Project Overview
The Water Consciousness Erasmus+ KA210 project aimed to raise awareness among high school students (ages 13–18) in Austria, Turkey, and Greece about sustainable water use, water conservation, and the importance of clean water. The project also promoted intercultural understanding, professional development for teachers, and community engagement.
Project Objectives and Achievements
Increase students' knowledge about water resources:
Achieved: Through workshops, school-based activities, and field trips, students learned about global and local water challenges. Pre- and post-activity surveys showed a 40% average increase in water literacy levels among participants.
Enhance understanding of water-related issues:
Achieved: Students discussed water scarcity, pollution, and climate change in cross-border online sessions. Over 85% of students reported a deeper understanding of these topics after participating.
Encourage sustainable water use habits:
Partially achieved: Many students implemented water-saving habits at home and school, such as turning off taps, reducing shower time, and using collected rainwater for plants. However, long-term behavior change will require follow-up.
Develop leadership and collaboration skills:
Achieved: Students led school campaigns and local awareness events. Teachers observed marked improvement in initiative, teamwork, and public speaking in more than 70% of students.
Promote intercultural understanding:
Achieved: Virtual exchanges and a transnational student summit allowed participants to share cultural practices and environmental perspectives. 95% of participants expressed appreciation for different cultures and reported increased tolerance and openness.
Target Group Engagement
Students: 24 students (8 per country) actively participated in structured learning activities, digital exchanges, and action days.
Teachers: 9 teachers (3 per country) engaged in co-creating lesson content, organizing school activities, and attending online training modules.
Local Communities: Reached through exhibitions, awareness campaigns, and open school days. An estimated 1,200 people were indirectly reached.
